RACING | Point-to-Point Racing returns to Bellurgan Park this weekend

Point-to-point racing at Bellurgan Park

Following the success of last year’s meeting, the Louth Hunt point-to-point races return to Bellurgan Park on Sunday, April 9th.

This is the 200th anniversary of Louth Foxhounds, founded in 1817, with kennels at Lisrenny, Tallanstown.

For 40 years, the annual fixture took place at Rathnestin, Tallanstown, and when that land became unavailable for 2016, the move was made to Bellurgan Park. A big crowd turned out on that occasion, and the organisers are hoping for a repeat.

The first of six races is scheduled for 2.30pm, over a one-mile circuit in front of the big house. There are five fences to be jumped three times.

Racegoers are accommodated on the in-field, and there will be the usual side attractions.
