PREVIEW | U12 Dundalk FC Cup semi-finals

Sunday, April 29th | 11am

Bellurgan United and Ardee Celtic are two of the four teams left in the U12 Dundalk FC Cup

Bay United v Bellurgan United | Rock Road, 11am

Bay United received a bye in round one of the U12 Dundalk FC Cup but they had to do it the hard way in the quarter final when they clashed with fellow first division side Quay Olympic in Clancy Park last Wednesday.

Extra time was needed after the game finished scoreless at full time and it was Quay who took advantage through a Luca McGrath goal but Destiny Ezeke equalised for Bay to send the game into a marathon penalty shootout.

Bay goalkeeper Sean Brennan scored from the spot himself and then saved penalty number 16 to send the Rock Road into the semi finals.

They will have their work cut out as Bellurgan finished in the top four of the Premier Division after a strong finish to the season and will go in as favourites to advance to the final.

The peninsula side enjoyed comfortable wins over Woodview in the first round and Bellurgan Celtic in the quarter final.

Glenmuir United v Ardee Celtic | Glenmuir Park, 11am

Premier Division side Glenmuir United comfortably beat Rockville in the first round.

The Blues then beat Quay Celtic 4–0 on Thursday night in the quarter final thanks to a brace of goals from Daniel Brogan (2) and one apiece from Steven Okeke and Ryan McEneaney.

After overcoming Shamrocks in the first round, Ardee Celtic were pipped to the Premier Division league title by Rock Celtic but the mid-Louth side got their revenge with a 1–0 win over the Seasiders in the quarter final.

This has all the makings of a cracking game between last season’s U11 League Cup winners, Glenmuir United, and last season’s U11 Premier League champions, Ardee Celtic.
