NEFL | Muirhevnamor add to their ranks by signing McSorley, Hearty and two Murphys
Bellurgan swoop for former Dundalk full-back McLaughlin
The NEFL transfer window closed on Saturday with a number of local clubs adding to their respective squads.
Premier Division champions Muirhevnamor were the big movers, adding four players who came through the underage ranks at Dundalk.
Nathan Murphy, who made his debut for the Lilywhites first team as a 16-year-old back in 2009, has signed after recent spells at Warrenpoint Town and Newry City in the Irish League.
Still only 24, the left-sided player will be joined by three of his former teammates at Oriel Park, Kurt Murphy, Gerard McSorley and Niall Hearty.
Murphy, who missed a large portion of the Sean O’Mahonys’ season with a back injury, is expected to return to training in a couple of weeks time.
Muirhevnamor will have to wait a little bit longer to see McSorley and Hearty in action, though, as both are part of the Dundalk Gaels panel that will play in the Louth Senior Championship final against Newtown Blues on October 18th.
Elsewhere, Bellurgan United have also signed a former Dundalk full-back in the shape of Ben McLaughlin.
Manager Wayne Conroy has trimmed his squad with Gavin Gaffey leaving for Woodview Celtic, Brian McCloskey signing for Bay FC and Pauric Browne moving to Quay Celtic.
The centre-back will be joined at Clancy Park by two Drogheda natives with midfielder Danny Coyne and defender Richard Gibney arriving from Boyne Harps.
The next transfer window will open on December 1st and will run until January 31st 2018.
