St Patrick’s were crowned Louth Ladies U12 Championship winners for the second year on the trot thanks to an eight-point win over Hunterstown recently.

The Lordship outfit got off the mark through a Meabh Butterly point in the opening minute. However, it proved to be the only score of the opening quarter as both sides defended well with Pat’s goalkeeper Leah Townsend making a great save to deny Hunterstown a goal.

The mid-Louth team scored a goal early in the second quarter to move ahead but the Pat’s girls dominated the remainder of the half with Liadoin Clynch adding a point before Sophie Hanlon added 1–1 to move them three points ahead at the halfway mark.

Niamh Holland added two fine scores at the start of the second-half to extend the Pat’s lead to five before the impressive Sophie Hanlon added two fine goals on the back of a couple of storming runs to give Pat’s a 10-point lead going into the latter stages.

Hunterstown responded with a point in the fourth quarter but Emily Tuohy hit back with another fine goal for Pat’s to stretch the lead to 12 with six minutes left to play.

Sophie Hanlon, Liadoin Clynch and Niamh McManus all added extra points before Hunterstown hit two late goals before the final whistle.

Hanlon followed in her sister Kate’s footsteps by picking up the player of the match award before captain Caoimhe McBride was presented with the trophy to round off a great year for the Lordship girls and their management team of Christopher Mackin, Jacinta McManus and Siobhan Holland.
