St Fechins’ continue their impressive start
St Fechin’s 4–8 Roche/Na Piarsaigh 0–3
St Fechin’s Ladies continued their strong start to the Division One League with a 17-point victory over Roche Emmets on Sunday morning in Termonfeckin.
The hosts took the lead early with Hazel Haughney hitting the back of the net to put the first score on the board.
Roche fought back, bringing the ball rapidly down the field but under intense pressure, Fechin’s ‘keeper Caoimhe McQuillan made an effortless save.
After a quick kick out to Sara Moore, the ball was offloaded to Roisin Kavanagh who carried it forward. When she was shut down by the Roche defence, Rebecca Howell gathered to kick a remarkable long distance point.
Roche struggled to break through the Fechin’s defence, only scoring one point in the first half as defenders Orla Brennan, Pamela Campbell and Céire Nolan dominated the Emmets attack.
A second score from Hazel Haughney was soon followed by a point from Catherine McGlew to leave the half time score at 3–5 to 0–1.
Louise McCullough opened the second half with a point followed by an exceptional goal from Catherine McGlew.
With the wind behind them, Roche continued to try and break through the locals defence but Jenny Mulrey and Orla McEvoy made super blocks and the hardworking Sarah Sharkey broke down several offensive plays.
Roche managed to put a further two points up on the board but Rachel Kinch replied, managing to secure a point from a free before the eager Ellen Brodigan added another point to conclude the game.

Stabannon Ladies overpower Cooley
Stabannon Parnells 5–15 Cooley Kickhams 4–6
Stabannon Ladies made it four wins from five games with a 12-point victory over Cooley Kickhams on Sunday morning.
The hosts made a number of changes with Laura McNally, Grace Rogers and Danielle Sharkey all handed a place in the starting 15.
It was the two Graces who ensured a strong start for the mid-Louth side with both Grace Rogers and Grace Lynch hitting the back of the net to put Stabannon ahead early on in the game.
Bronagh McGrane recorded a tally of three points in this half, while Rachel McNally scored 1–1 and Danielle Sharkey scored a point to leave the half-time score 3–7 to 0–3 at half time.
Cooley got the second-half off to a scoring start by putting one past goalie Kim Lynch in the first few minutes.
Stabannon, however, regrouped quickly and Rachel McNally gave the perfect response by hitting the net at the other end before Grace Lynch and Bronagh McGrane followed it up with another two points.
Cooley never gave up and were able to respond by again hitting the back of the Stabannon net to apply a bit of pressure on the Louth senior champions.
Danielle Sharkey eased it by scoring a point to keep a sizable distance between the two teams and Rachel McNally added another two.

A fourth McNally sister, Ciara, made her Stabannon debut, joining her sisters Laura, Ruth and Rachel on the pitch, and she got off to a fine start by showing her strength in the half forward line.
Kate Smyth scored an excellent point from a Cooley kick out but Cooley continued to fight and they hit the back of the net again through the impressive Niam Rice to reduce Stabannon’s lead to nine points.
The peninsula side, however, just couldn’t keep Stabannon out at the other end with Danielle Sharkey adding further points before the final score of the game went to Rachel McNally who hit the back of the Cooley net to seal the win for the home side.

The Kilkerley/Dowdallshill ladies football team had another good win on Sunday morning in windy conditions against Naomh Mairtin/Glen Emmets.
Trailing by seven points at half-time, the home team showed great determination to come back and record a five-point win.
Next up for the amalgamated side is a home game with St Kevin’s on Sunday, May 7th at 11am.
Pat’s control second-half against Gers
St Patrick’s/Cuchulainn Gaels 4–13 Geraldines B 2–12
The St Patrick’s/Cuchulainn Gaels team dominated the second-half of this match with the Geraldines B to secure a crucial win.
Geraldines went in at half time leading by three points with a goal from Aisling O’Doherty keeping the Pat’s ladies in touch at the break.
Lauren Caldwell also made a great save in the first half to ensure the Haggardstown side did not build their lead further.
The Pats ladies dominated after the break with Kate Flood hitting two further goals and Catherine O’Connor also raising a green flag. The subs also played a crucial part with Katie Hoey also contributing to the scoring.

Mattock Rangers ran out nine-point winners against the O’Raghallaigh’s on Sunday morning.
Nikki Noone hit 2–4 for the Collon side with Rebecca Levins also finding the net. Niamh Dooley (0–3), Abbie O’Brien, Lisa McCabe, Gemma Sheridan and Gráinne Reid with 0–1 each were also on target.
