Clan na Gael Ladies booked their place in the Louth Ladies League Division Three final after a hard fought victory in an entertaining game with Newtown Blues on Friday night.

The Castletown side got off to a fine start with the impressive Ciara Woods scoring four unanswered points early on.

Further scores from Grace Smith, Gillian Reilly and a goal and point from Woods again left the scores 1–7 to 0–7 at the break in the Dundalk side’s favour.

The second half continued in similar fashion with the Clans adding another superb goal and two points from Woods. Alannah McLaughlin and Kathy Reilly also hit the net while Lee Lawlor hit a brace of points.

The Blues fought hard right to the end but the Clans held their defensive nerve and got the win they needed to set up a final showdown with Mattock Rangers in Dunleer on Friday night.

The girls in green and gold were well served by some outstanding performances, notably from from Kathy Reilly, Ciara Woods, Daramay Fitzpatrick and Gillian Reilly.
