KARATE | Dundalk Karate members take in seminar with world champion
Members of Dundalk Karate made the trip south on the M1 again to Collinstown, Dublin, where their sister club — INSK — hosted a seminar with World Kumite champion, Jordan Thomas.
With three training sessions, designed to cater for all ages and abilities, this was certainly a seminar that Dundalk Karate did not want to miss out on.
Junior members, Liam Hoey and Franciszek Chmielecki, alongside cadet members, Catherine Marcus and sisters Josephine and Joyce Idowu, took full advantage of every minute on the tatami mats.
Jordan inspired everyone with his enthusiasm and the ease with which he demonstrated each Kumite technique. With everybody’s eyes and ears open to taking in every aspect, the world champion had everyone’s undivided attention.
“Opportunities like these are like gold dust and to see everyone taking full advantage of an inspiring world champion’s expertise is what it’s all about,” said Sensei Mary Marcus 2nd Dan afterwards.
“All members of Dundalk Karate, regardless of their age or ability are always encouraged to take full advantage of seminars like these.
“To see members sweating buckets and smiling at the same time shows that they are definitely thriving and enjoying what they do.”
Dundalk Karate train every Monday and Thursday evening in the Redeemer Family Resource Centre.
The club is open to all ages and abilities and if you would like any further information on Dundalk Karate you can contact Sensei Marcus on 086 353 1625 or [email protected]
