Johnny Mason’s pip Uncle Tom’s to First Division title

Dundalk & District Darts League

The Johnny Mason’s team who pipped Uncle Tom’s to the Dundalk Darts League First Division trophy last week

The Johnny Mason’s dart team was celebrating last Thursday night after securing the Dundalk Darts League First Division trophy on home soil.

The local side overcame arch rivals Uncle Tom’s from Blackrock in a final league match that was worthy of the occasion.

Both teams went into the match on 19 points with Mason’s knowing that only a win could deprive Uncle Tom’s of taking the title.

Throwing an excellent quality of darts, both teams had their supporters fired up in expectation and the tie was level at two games each, edging Uncle Tom’s towards the crown.

However, the home side drew on all its reserves of experience to win the last two matches and send the home support into a frenzy.

Johnny Mason’s captain Syl Matthews asked for a minute’s silence in memory of Maurice Browne, who had been a past member of Mason’s team.
