HURLING | Mixed week for Naomh Moninne’s youngsters

Naomh Moninne’s Cian Walsh, Sam Phelan and Conor Whyte who took part in the county skills competition on Saturday morning in Darver

The Naomh Moninne U14 team suffered a narrow defeat to St Kevin’s/Mattock/Glen Emmets by 2–6 to 2–4 in the opening round of the league in Collon last Tuesday evening.

The Moninne team was Conor Whyte, Tadhg Dowdall, Diarmuid McEneaney, Luke Conlon, Junior Shotayo, Daire Reilly, Conor Murphy (0–4), Cian Walsh, Sam Phelan, Fionn Cumiskey, Ronan Reid, Tadhg Kearney (1–0), Ciaran Walsh (1–0). Subs: Robert McCaughey, Jack Mulvihill, Cormac Brannigan, Seamus Reid and Brendan Waihr.

The same two teams will meet again this coming Friday evening, May 26th, in the U14 Feile final at 7.30pm. Venue TBC.

Last Thursday evening the club’s U10 team recorded a good 6–5 to 2–0 win over Mattock/Glen Emmets in an entertaining match played in Collon.

The Moninne team was Ethan Walsh, Luke McCourt, Peter Begley, Mark Byrne, Aaron Cassidy Rogers, Luke Haughey (1–4), Michael O’Shaughnessy (2–1), Matthew McDonnell, Cathal Maguire, Ryan Heaney, Evan Corrigan Meave O Hora (2–0). Subs: Ciaran Maguire, Josh Horwell, Tim Litchfield and James McDonnell.

This Tuesday evening the U12 team play St Fechin’s in the league at the Fairgreen at 7.30pm. Following on then on Thursday evening they will take part in an U8 blitz at DkIT at 7.15pm.

Juvenile training

Juvenile training continues outdoor at the Fairgreen next Saturday afternoon from 12pm-1pm with the usual €2 contribution still applying.

Tain League

The Ulster Senior Club Tain League commences on Saturday afternoon with Moninne travelling to take on Derrynoose from Armagh in the opening round with the game throwing in at 4pm.

Celtic Challenge

Three Moninne boys were on the Louth U17 team who made it three wins in a row in the Celtic Challenge with a 1–12 to 0–5 over Cavan in Mullagh last Wednesday evening.

They were Eoghan O’Hora, Padraic Fallon (0–2) and Ciaran McGlynn (0–7). The team will now take on Longford in round four of the competition in Darver on Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm.

Casino Night

In conjunction with Dundalk Rugby Club, the club held a very entertaining Casino Night in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Friday evening and they would to thank all the sponsors whose contribution went along way to making the night a success.

Membership

Club membership for 2017 is still been taken at the following rates — adult player €50, non player €25, student €25, juvenile €15, family €50.
