GREYHOUNDS | Sprint Cup champion returns to Dundalk on Saturday night
A big crowd is expected at Dundalk Stadium on Saturday night for a fundraiser organised by Co Down GAA.
A 12-race card gets underway at 7.50pm, and includes the finals of five competitions, in which there is plenty of local interest.
Aintree Dasher (Aintree Crew Syndicate, Dromiskin) and Al Pawchino (Dean and Alan Watters, Dundalk) are in the A7-A10. Elsa Blue (Martina McCann, Dromiskin) takes her chance in the A2 decider, alongside Another Flake, both trained by Ambrose Quinn.
In the A1 550, Michael Doyle and Thomas Butterly are doubly represented with Valeries Master and Inslips Fury. They are joined by Tammen Twister for Martina McCann and Ambrose Quinn.
The action gets underway with a Novice Open Unraced 525, where the trial times of Vaguely Noble in trap five certainly catch the eye. The son of Tullymurry Act and Groupie Doll has a 21.68 around here, with some sharp spins at Shelbourne Park and Longford as well.
There is a sequence of six Opens in a row to complete the programme.
Irish Sprint Cup champion, Ballymac Bigmike makes a welcome return to the scene of his greatest triumph.
On April 21st, when winning at Cork, he had his first race since last September. He wears the striped jacket in the ninth race.
An interesting contender in the next is Dream Dude, who went unbeaten through the Dundalk Novice Open Unraced 525 for Ollie Bray. He changed hands since, and is now owned by Gavin Johns, and under the care of Ian Reilly.
The concluding 900 features three of the finalists from the Paddy & Eamon Carroll Memorial A1 620. Jaytee Angel (winner), Dunham Roxy (third) and Peregrine Cola all make a big step-up in trip.
Racing also takes place on Friday, with the first of 11 races scheduled for 7.50pm.
