GREYHOUNDS | Local winners aplenty at Dundalk Stadium over the weekend

Valerie’s Master wins on his 96th outing

A number of local greyhound enthusiasts had success over the weekend at Dundalk Stadium.

On Friday evening, Jennys Boy went in again for Corduff handler, Laurence Jones. The Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Cup finalist clocked 21.38.

Dromiskin-based Martina McCann and Ambrose Quinn collected with Tammen Tiggy, who won in 29.23 while the good form of Michael Kelly’s Clogherhead kennel continued with Saucy Demi, whom he also owns in partnership with Brian Douglas. She was much too good for them in 28.78.

Saturday’s card produced a second victory in three outings for Sober Lily, the property of Dundalk men, Raymond Bellew and Mark Durnin. She came from behind to deny Dulane Girl by three-and- a-half lengths in 29.26.

Mid-Louth got in on the act with Holycross Maid, trained by John Durrigan for Dunleer’s Michael Hughes. The daughter of Shaneboy Lee and Holycross Blonde covered the 525 yards circuit in 29.37.

Lordship’s Ken Finnegan was on the mark with Bradley Star. She made all the running to see off Raspberry Rascal and the rest in 29.24.

And there is just no stopping wily veteran, Valeries Master. The pride of owners, Michael Doyle and Thomas Butterly rattled off a hat-trick in his 96th outing, prevailing by almost six lengths in 28.77.

The finale fell to Nanny Brien, owned by Ardee’s David Daly and trained by Martin Lanney. The 550-yard trip held no fears, as she made all in 30.21.
