GREYHOUNDS | Heisman hoping to repeat his Bar One exploits at Shelbourne Park

The focus of most attention on Saturday night will be on Shelbourne Park where the annual Night of Stars takes place.

A number of valuable races are on the card, featuring the leading Irish performers, as well as some British visitors.

Heisman, winner of the Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Cup for local brothers, Laurence and Brian Jones, is entered for a 350.

Good News is expected to make his first public appearance since lifting the Boylesports Derby on September 23rd against St Leger winner, Clonbrien Hero.

As ever, all the action from Ringsend can be viewed on the intertrack service at Dundalk Stadium.

Last Saturday night, St Joseph’s GFC ran a fundraiser at the Dowdallshill circuit, and fittingly, there were plenty of Dromiskin-based winners.

Ambrose Quinn recorded a fantastic treble with Well Brother, Young Willie Mc and Elsa Blue. He owns the first two winners in partnership with bookmaker, Barney O’Hare; and Elsa Blue, with Martina McCann.

Another Dromiskin resident, David Dunne, won the third race with Bennys The Boss. He saw off Coolronan Joey by almost three lengths in 21.63.

Elsewhere on the programme, Pennys Marvel led from trap-to-line for Ardee’s Kevin Commins, clocking 29.00 in the process.

On Friday, Monleek Dakota made his first visit to Dundalk a successful one, for Rita Downey, Tullyallen. He went around in a nippy 21.30 in a four-runner contest.

This card also produced a treble for another trainer, Lurgan’s Gary Silcock, with three litter brothers all carrying his well-known ‘Santro’ prefix.
