GREYHOUNDS | Eighth-race greyhound card at Dundalk Stadium on Friday night

The greyhound action at Dundalk Stadium on Friday night begins at 9.30pm, owing to horse racing beforehand.

An eight-race card includes the Stags & Hen Parties A5 525 final, due off at 10.30pm.

Thats It (Peter Noone) and Holycross Maid (John Durrigan for Michael Hughes) represent local interest in the decider, which carries a first prize of €710.

The likeliest winner is Tyrone tracker, Tinas Ruby, who clocked a fastest of 29.00 in the semi-finals, and will wear the favoured red jacket.

The programme opens with three semi-finals of the Down GAA A1 550, followed by the penultimate round of the Down GAA A2 525.

In the first eliminator of the A2 event, Tucker Foley (T1) and Meenagh Magic (T6) start from the same boxes as when dead-heating last time.

They are joined by Dundalk runner, Fane Hye Bhoy, also successful a week ago for Martin Sharkey.

The Down GAA A4 525 continues, and Zach Of Hearts could prove hard to beat in the first semi. He is trained, like Tucker Foley, by Co. Kilkenny handler, Paul Hennessy. Boleys Babe gets the nod in the remaining qualifier.

Twelve races on Saturday get underway at 7.50pm. Two more of the Down GAA competitions go on, an A7-A10 525 and an A3 Tri-Distance. The latter stake moves up to 550 yards, ahead of a 575 final. All of the Down events have their finals on Saturday, May 20th.

Elsewhere on Saturday’s card, Nine To Five might be the answer to the fifth race, after she returned to form last time. She is capable of going up fast, and is better drawn on this occasion.
