GREYHOUNDS | Dream Dude dazzles in 525 final at Dundalk Stadium
Racegoers were treated to a five-star performance from the aptly-named Dream Dude at Dundalk Stadium on Saturday evening.
The even-money favourite romped to a five-length victory in the Dundalk Novice Open Unraced 525 final, recording 28.39, which is little more than a length outside the track record of 28.31. Dream Dude is owned and trained in Navan by Ollie Bray.
Elsewhere on the card, Drogheda’s Sinead Matthews had a 12/1 winner in the shape of the Tommy Heavey-trained Valeries Thunder (29.40).
Calfornia Chrome, conditioned in Togher by Michael Doyle, was on the mark in the eighth, prevailing by one-and-a-half lengths in 29.01.
Meanwhile, just like Dundalk FC the same night, the home team cashed in on Friday. Five of the seven races fell to Co Louth runners. There were to have been eight contests, but the opener was declared a ‘no race’ after a traps malfunction.
The Clogherhead kennel of Michael Kelly registered a double with Milldean Gem (21.71) and Milldean Katy (29.18).
Milldean Katy’s win came in a heat of the Ever Kleen Contract Cleaners A3 525, where Hangover Cure (29.14) was also successful for Dundalk’s Amy Rose O’Connor and Chris Doyle.
In the third heat of this stake, Monleek Express got in as a reserve to collect in 29.14 for Rita and John Downey, Tullyallen.
Ring Harbour clicked again over the minimum trip of 350 yards. He is owned and trained by David Dunne in Dromiskin, and clocked 19.36.
