GREYHOUNDS | Carroll Memorial kicks off at Dundalk Stadium

The first round of the Paddy and Eamon Carroll Memorial A1 620 kicked off at Dundalk Stadium on Saturday. Sponsored by the Carroll family, Bellurgan, the winner will pick up €1,750.

The three heats fell to Santro Rico (34.08), Swift Lark (34.40) and Jaytee Samurai in 34.53.

Earlier, Killure King made a winning debut for the Bed To Work Syndicate, which comprises Dundalk’s Pat and Matthew Loftus, and Drogheda’s Michael Tiernan. He went round in 21.91 for the 400 yards trip.

Dunleer handler John Durrigan was on the mark with Ture Ace in 29.23; while the Omeath kennel of Barry and Cian Reilly collected with Ah Ah Jet, a short-head victor in 21.91.

There was plenty of confidence behind Annies Fairies on Friday, and she didn’t disappoint for her Dundalk owners, Peter McArdle and the Steering Job Syndicate.

Strongly supported in the betting ring, Annies Fairies made all the running to beat another Dundalk bitch, Teach Me How, by four-and-three-quarter lengths in 29.60.

In the finale, Ballyknockan Bell notched a third career victory for Dunleer’s Kevin Kearney.

She was out and away from trap six, and maintained a good gallop to get the better of Ask Ted by two lengths in 22.09.

The card included the semi-finals of the Ever Kleen Contract Cleaners AS 525, which were won by Navan dogs, Bakery Lane (28.80) and Kilrues Roger in 29.27.
