GREYHOUNDS | Big local interest in this Saturday’s final at Dundalk Stadium

Local owners Doyle and Butterly will both be represented

Local owners, Michael Doyle and Thomas Butterly will be doubly-represented in Saturday’s final of the Down GAA A1 550.

Valeries Master won the second of three eliminators in 30.36, while kennelmate Inslips Fury filled the runner-up berth behind Trade Freddie in the opener.

Also represented in the decider will be Dromiskin-based Martina McCann, with Tammen Twister, trained by Ambrose Quinn, and second behind the flying Drumsna Legend, who clocked 29.69. Ambrose also steered Another Flake and Elsa Blue to the final of the Down GAA A2.

Those heats were run off on Friday, when the card included the Stag and Hen Parties A5 525 final. Here, victory went to Murray Rock over Tinas Ruby, with Thats It taking third for Peter Noone, Lordship.

On Saturday, Knockagh Tango broke his duck at the third attempt, making all the running to see off Furiously Fast by one-and-a-quarter lengths in 22.06. He is owned and trained in Hackballscross by Colm Farrelly.

The semi-finals of the Down GAA A7-A10 saw Al Pawchino (Dean and Alan Watters, Dundalk) and Aintree Dasher (Aintree Crew Syndicate, Dromiskin) advance to the next stage. They finished third in their respective heats.

The camera was required to decide the outcome of the fourth race, and it showed that Debidee Spirit got the verdict by a head in 29.13 for veteran Ardee owner-trainer, Kevin Commins.
