Great turnout at O’Mahony’s awards night

The Joe Ward cup took centre stage at the Sean O’Mahony’s underage awards night at Dundalk Stadium

The Sean O’Mahony’s underage presentation night for 2016 was held in Dundalk Stadium on Saturday night.

There was a great turnout of both parents and kids in a room that was tastefully decorated in green and gold with pride of place going to the Joe Ward Cup on the stage.

MC for the night, Anto Mackin, spoke elegantly throughout and thanked all the coaches for their hard work throughout the year.

To loud applause and cheers, Kevin McKenna was presented with a Sean O’Mahony’s Special Merit Award for all his years coaching the young lads on the Point Road, many of whom led the club to the Louth Senior Football Championship victory last September.

All boys aged seven to 11 received medals on stage and three of the older players — Tiernan Cassidy, Sean Cassidy and Mark Agnew — received their Player of the Year awards.

Well done to all three, not just for their brilliant displays on the field, but also for their exemplary conduct and dedication.

A great night was had by all, and the club are hoping to see everyone again this coming Wednesday, March 29th when the first outdoor training session for all five to 12-year-old’s will be held at 6.30pm.

For the club’s U7s, this is the first night back since October and new players are most welcome. Registration for all underage players for the year ahead takes place from 6.30pm-9pm, also on Wednesday night. All U12s who register will receive a training top, shorts and socks.

The club’s table quiz is coming up on Saturday, April 1st at 8.30pm sharp in Kehoe’s Bar on Quay Street. Table of four costs €40. Contact Grainne on 0868832345 or Tracy on 0862583128 to book a team or for more information.
