Dundalk Golf Club’s Caolan Rafferty continues to set the golfing scene alight after celebrating a double victory at the Copa Fedegolf in Colombia

Joining forces with Massereene’s Tiarnan McLarnon in the team event, Ireland went into the final round sitting just one stroke behind Sebastian Bergagna and Horacio Carbonetti from Argentina in the standings.

They fell a further two behind by hole six but recovered in emphatic fashion to win by a massive 12 holes on a one-under 575.

“It was good,” Rafferty told IrishGolfDesk.com.

“The key was that we both played solid because it isn’t easy to get two lads shooting good scores for four rounds.

“Most of the other teams had one good and one poor score each round.”

Rafferty wasn’t done there. In the individual event, Chile’s Lucas Rosso held a three-stroke lead with a round to play but the 24-year-old closed with a six under 66, which included a birdie at the last, to beat Rosso by one stroke on an eight-under 280.

The Copa Fedegolf marked the start of a busy few weeks for Rafferty. He will be in action in the Czech Republic next week at the European University Championships in Prague and then returns to his home patch to defend his Dundalk Scratch Cup on Sunday, September 17th.
