Anne McDonnell claims Ladies’ Green Trophy

Gavin McErlean was the winner of the The Cardinal’s Cup, kindly sponsored by Fencemaster Bellurgan on Sunday last.

Gavin won convincingly with a healthy score of 40 points with Alan McGrath, Shane McVerry, Tom Ward and Darren Kirwan also taking home prizes.

Results of the Open Seniors, played on Monday, April 27th — 1st: Gervase Strain (24) 40, 2nd: Francis Farnon (19) (Warrenpoint GC) 38.

The O’Hare Memorial Trophy, kindly sponsored by Barney Carroll, will take place next Sunday while on Saturday there will be an 18 Hole Stableford. There is an Open Mens Singles every Tuesday.

On Easter Saturday, April 15th the Greenore Tidy Towns Golf Classic Four Person Scramble takes place. This is followed by the presentation of prizes and entertainment.

On Easter Monday, April 17th, there will be an Open Four Ball any combination, kindly sponsored by MyHome.ie and the next Open Seniors will be Monday, April 24th.

Results of the lotto draw, held on Saturday, April 1st — First out: 35, Bonus: 34. There was no jackpot winner. The lucky dip winners were Gervase Strain and Kevin Maguire. This week’s jackpot is €1,200.

Greenore Ladies

The Green Trophy, which was staged on Thursday and Saturday last, attracted a good entry. Conditions were benign on Thursday compared with the testing conditions of Saturday.

Anne McDonnell claimed pole position on the winner’s rostrum by carding a gritty 33 points. Runner-up was Marie McAnallen on 32 points on countback while Angela McParland was pipped into third position, also with 32. Kay McCartan made a nice haul in the two’s by chipping in on the 14th.

Two ladies’ AIG Interclub matches will take place this weekend. On Saturday, the club’s Intermediate Cup team, captained by Mary P Kirk, take on Kileen Castle at Ardee Golf Club. On Sunday, the Junior Foursomes team, captained by Anne Davey, take on Howth at Forrest Little GC.

Provision has been made on the BRS next Thursday, April 6th for players and caddies involved to compete in the first Golfer of the Year competition, the Clarke Cup SF.

There will be a Ladies Open Stableford on Thursday, April 6th. Alternate day play is available for those involved in interclub matches. Timesheet runs from 10am-10:30am. Please arrive in good time as a draw will take place 10 minutes beforehand.

The Clarke Cup Stableford and Golfer of the Year competition begins on Saturday, April 8th. BRS booking opens at 7pm on Wednesday.
