Dunleer Golf Society
Killeen Castle was the venue for Dunleer Golf Society to celebrate Martin Sheridan’s Presidents Day on Sunday, April 30th.
The championship course was a great test for the Dunleer golfers and on this occasion the course won as many of the better golfers fell at the first fence. All will try again in 2018!
The overall winner was Terry Ward. He was presented with his trophy and prize in Shearman’s Inn by Martin that evening. Ray Moore of Hibernia Steel was not available to present
the remaining prizes but he was thanked in his absence for his continued support.

The next event will be Beaverstown GC on Saturday, May 27th, sponsored by the Dunleer Inn.
Greenore Ladies
Marian Jordan’s steady 35 points was good enough to claim the voucher in last Thursday’s Open. Helen Reynolds of Ashbourne GC scooped the two’s pot with her birdie on the 11th.
On Saturday last, the second Golfer of the Year competition was won in style by Noreen Craven with a splendid 69 nett. Catherine Woods was runner-up with 76 nett while the front nine went to in-form Marian Jordan with 35 nett while Marian Murnaghan won the back nine with 37 nett. No two’s were recorded.
On the interclub scene, Greenore Ladies’ Revive Active Fourball team, captained by Teresa Sweeney, take on Ardee GC on Saturday next with three matches away and two at home. Best of luck to all concerned!
