GOLF | Buster bags Category One prize at Punter’s outing to Ballymac
The last Punter’s Golf Society outing of the year took place at Ballymascanlon Golf club on Wednesday last with 18 players lining out for the prizes.
It was a dull and overcast day but, thankfully, there were only a few intermittent showers to spoil the round.
In Category One, the winner on the day was Buster Carroll with 35 points which was won on a count back of the back nine. Second was David Murden on 35 points and Eamonn O’Farrell was in third on 33 points.
The winner of Category Two was Colm O’Hanrahan on 28 points with outgoing captain, Andrew Lynch, in second place on 27 points and Tony Casey third on 25.
The prizes were presented later in the evening in the Punter’s Bar with the food catered for by Tony’s Pizzeria.
The committee would like to thank Kieran McNamee, the landlord of the Punter’s, for his generosity and help during the year, Paul Curran of Fives Taxis for all his safe transportation during the year and all the different caterers who provided food for the golfers after the outings.
Thanks also to President Nigel Giff and Captain Andrew Lynch for their contribution to the organisation of all the outings and speeches during the year.
Last, but not least, all the various staff members of the Punter’s for their excellent service during the year.
The society looks forward to seeing its members next year. New members are also more than welcome.
