GAA | McShane instrumental in Dowdallshill’s second half comeback
Division Six League | Dowdallshill 2–8 Stabannon Parnells 1–9
Dowdallshill’s second string brought up their fourth straight win in as many matches, after coming from seven points down at half time to win in injury time against Stabannon on Tuesday night.
Trailing 1–6 to 0–2 at the break, the introduction of Gerry McShane proved timely, as it helped sparked a second half revival.
Dylan McDonnell’s goal three minutes into that second period kickstarted the comeback before back to back points from long-serving duo Peter Hughes and McShane brought their team to within two points.
McShane then crashed a penalty off the crossbar, but in spite of the miss, the ‘Hill stuck manfully to their task, eventually reeling in their opponents and winning the game in dramatic fashion in injury time when Ridwan Bodunrin ghosted-in for the winning goal at the far post.
It capped off a superb recovery, after Parnells had threatened to put the game to bed by half-time, but for a string of missed chances.
There were solid performances from the home side from Noel Mohan, match winner Ridwan Bodunrin, Peter Hughes, Gerry McShane, Dermot Smyth and Dylan McDonnell.
