GAA | Louth Ladies Championship Draw
Stabannon Ladies going for a sixth senior title in eight years
The draw for this year’s Louth Ladies GAA Championship took place at the Geraldines GFC clubrooms in Haggardstown on Monday evening.
Current Louth Ladies manager John O’Leary — a two-time All Ireland winner with Dublin — along with Wee County minor player Aoife Russell conducted the draw for the Halpenny Travel Senior Championship.
Reigning champions Stabannon Parnells — who are going for a sixth title in eight years — were placed in group one alongside Cooley Kickhams, Newtown Blues, St Patrick’s/Cuchulainn Gaels and Roche/Na Piarsaigh.
In group two, last year’s intermediate champions St Brides will face St Mochtas, St Kevin’s and Geraldines.
Prior to that, former Louth Ladies County Board chairman — and current St Bride’s boss — Michael Heeney and Louth Minor Ladies captain Ciara Nolan made the Intermediate Championship draw.
Clan na Gael, St Fechin’s and Naomh Fionnbarra will fight it out in group one with O’Raghallaigh’s, Kilkerley/Dowdallshill, Dreadnots and Glyde Rangers in group two.
Clan na Gael and the O’Raghallaigh’s will contest the Louth Ladies Junior Championship final. Both clubs, however, will also compete in the Intermediate Championship to accumulate more games.
Ardee St Mary’s won’t compete in this year’s championship due to a lack of numbers.
The top two teams from each group will contest the semi-finals with the opening round of fixtures scheduled to be played on Sunday, August 6th.
