Naomh Malachi
The club are planning a walkway around the pitch at their grounds in Courtbane. This facility will be available for all in the local and wider community to use as part of a healthier, active lifestyle. Should you wish to help out in any way, contact any member of the committee.
There is a car boot sale in the club on Sunday, April 23rd. Cars €10; Vans €15. Proceeds from the sale will be used as part of the walkway fundraiser.
The underage blitzes have started. On Sunday last the club’s U8s went to Newtown Blues where they played two very good games. There were great scores taken by Shea Finnegan, Thomas Meegan and Cailin Begley. There was great defending by Aoibhinn Finnegan and Kayla Kane. On Monday night last the U10s went to St Mary’s in Ardee for two tough games. Scores came from Dylan Campbell, Teresa Cowan, Oran Caherty and Shea Matthews. Other good performances from Erin Finnegan, Rebecca Lawrence and Amy McBride.
Cuchulainn Gaels
There was no winner of last week’s lotto. The winning numbers drawn were 8, 9, 17 and 25. There were two Match Three winners — Audrey Rafferty and Susan Boyle. This week’s jackpot stands at €20,000.
Cuchulainn Gaels present a Night with Rory’s Stories! Anybody wishing to buy tickets for the up and coming event “A Night With Rory’s Stories” that is being held in the Granvue Hotel on May 12th can do so online at the club’s Facebook page.
The club would like to congratulate one of its young U12 stars, Euan McArdle, on being picked to represent Cuchulainn Gaels and his school, Scoil Naomh Lorcan, at the Louth GAA Go Games Academy that took place at Croke Park during the half time interval at the Division Three final on Saturday. Well done Euan, from everyone at Cuchulainn Gaels!
The U12 team played their first game of the season against St Fechin’s last week, running out 7–7 to 2–2 winners. All the lads put in a great team performance with the only glitch being the Fechin’s scoring two late goals to put a bit more respect on the scoreline. The next outing is on Good Friday, venue and time TBC.
Clan na Gael
There was no winner of last week’s lotto. The winning numbers drawn were 8, 9, 11 and 25. The three Match Three winners who share €200 are — Anne McArdle c/o Jim; Paula Coburn c/o Leslie Toal and Noel Cumiskey c/o Marie Cumiskey. This week’s jackpot stands at €5,900.
Kilkerley Emmets
The Kilkerley/Naomh Malachi U14 team had a very successful start to the league campaign winning on a scoreline of 6–9 to 0–6 against St Mary’s last week. The team played extremely well throughout and were not flattered by the winning margin.
The team was: Conall Brady, Aaron Gogarty, Niall Quigley, Ronan Deery, Kyle McFadden, Conor Conway, Pauraic McGee, Liam Cawley, Morgan Quigley (0–3), Fionn Cumiskey (0–1), Aidan Corrigan (2–5), Rory Kirk (1–0), Eoin McKenna (1–0), Diarmuid McEneaney (1–0), Andrew Begley (1–0) and Rowan Harmon. The team’s next game is away to the Brides.
U18 Minor League
On Monday last, the Kilkerley/Naomh Malachi minor team were beaten in the U18 League, going down by a point to the Stabannon/O’Connell’s/John Mitchels side, 2–13 to 2–12.
Best on the night were Sean McCaughey, Andrew Connolly, Tadgh McKeown, Aaron McArdle, Tadgh Litchfield and Morgan McCaughey. Scores were Ciaran Murtagh (1–1), Ewan McEnteggart (1–0), Ulyanov McEnaney (0–4), Conor Quigley (0–2), Darren Geoghegan (0–2), Ciaran McGlynn (0–1), Michael Begley (0–2).
Sean O’Mahony’s
The Sean O’Mahonys/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshill U18 team beat St Nicholas by 3–5 to 0–10 last Monday but the U14s went down to Mattock Rangers/Hunterstown Rovers last Wednesday, 5–13 to 2–6. On Wednesday, the O’Raghallaighs host the Sean O’Mahonys/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshill U14 at 7pm.
On Friday, April 14th, the U12s are away in Kilkerley against Kilkerley Emmets/Naomh Malachi at 7pm.
The senior team face Dundalk Gaels on the Point Road in the first Division One league game of the year on Saturday at 6.30pm.
U7 Blitz
The first U7 blitz of 2017 in Roche went well last week. It was the first ever game for some of the club’s young guns wearing a the green and gold jersey. The next U7 blitz takes place on May 7th.
Cooley Kickhams
The Cooley Kickhams U10 boys team that had their first outing of the year against Cuchulainn Gaels in Omeath. Everyone played really well considering it was their first game of the season and the difficult wet conditions on the night. Best of luck for the season ahead lads!
