Naomh Moninne, Naomh Malachi, Cooley, Sean O’Mahony’s

Naomh Moninne

Juvenile training continues outdoor at the Fairgreen on Saturday afternoons from 2pm to 3pm with the usual €2 contribution still applying.

The club’s senior team recorded a good 3–15 to 1–7 victory over town rivals Pearse Og in the Special League at the DKIT last Friday evening. The Moninne team and scorers were: Paul Delaney, Paul Challoner, Chris Lennon (0–1), Niall Cafferkey, Oisin Drumm, Donal Connolly, Darren O’Hanrahan (1–7), Andrew McArdle, David Yore (1–3), Stephen Ryan, John Martin, Collins Connolly, Ronan Geoghegan (0–3). The subs used were Mark McGuinness (0–1), Donal Lee, Donal Griffin, Matthew Fee and Tommy McArdle (1–0).

The senior team are next in action on Saturday, April 29th when they take on Mattock Rangers at home in the semi final of the Special Championship (Maurice Murphy Cup).

The club’s young U8 hurlers took part in an entertaining blitz at the Fairgreen last Thursday evening, playing games against Knockbridge A&B and Pearse Og. The Moninne panel was Tiernan Bradley, Ciaran Maguire, Oisin Maguire, Aoife Cairns, Josh Horwell, Donal Brady and Aoife Dowdall.

The club’s U10 team play their first game in the league when they take on Knockbridge ‘A’ in the Fairgreen at 7pm on Thursday, April 20th.

The club will hold their first flag day of 2017 this Friday, April 21st in Dundalk and are looking for members to help out with the collection on the day. If you are available please contact the club treasurer David Duffy 0876536665.

The club, in conjunction with Dundalk Rugby Club will hold a joint fundraiser on Friday May 19th when the Crowne Plaza Hotel will be the venue for the ‘Night At The Casino’ at 8.15pm. Tickets are priced at €25 and are available from any committee member.

Club membership for 2017 is now due at the following rates — adult player €50, non player €25, student €25, juvenile €15, family €50.

Cooley’s U14 girls enjoyed a great 5–11 to 1–7 win over Hunterstown recently. The Cooley team that played on the night was: Trinity Larkin, Megan McGlynn, Laura O’Shaughnessy, Shauna Ward Rice, Ciara Donnelly, Katelyn Murphy (0–1), Laoise McIlroy (0–4), Leah Magee, Kelly Carolan, Holly Maguire (0–1), Alice Ferguson (1–3), Aoife Ferguson (2–0), Blaithin Malone, Maryann Loughran, Emma McArdle, Kristanna Keenan (1–1), Saule Juralyte, Dayna Ferguson (1–1), Kelly Marmion, Rebecca Hanlon and Emily McGrath.

The club are planning a walkway around the pitch at their grounds in Courtbane. This facility will be available for all in the local and wider community to use as part of a healthier, active lifestyle. Should you wish to help out in any way, contact any member of the committee.

There will be a car boot sale in the club on Sunday, April 23rd. Cars €10; Vans €15. Proceeds from the sale will be used as part of the walkway fundraiser for the wider Shelagh community. Later that evening, Dawn Folk will play in the clubrooms from 8pm-10pm as part of the walkway fundraiser. All welcome.

The club’s underage blitzes have started. On Sunday last the U8s went to Newtown Blues where they played two very good games. There were great scores taken by Shea Finnegan, Thomas Meegan and Cailin Begley. There was great defending by Aoibhainn Finnegan and Kayla Kane.

On Monday night the U10s went to St Mary’s in Ardee for two tough games. Scores came from Dylan Campbell, Treasa Cowan, Oran Caherty and Shea Matthews. Other good performances from Erin Finnegan, Rebecca Lawrence and Amy McBride.

Louth Coaching and Games are running a Young Whistlers course aimed at 15–16 year olds with aspirations of becoming referees. The course is open to both hurling and football and will take place in Darver Centre of Excellence on Saturday, April 22nd from 10am-12pm and from 6.30pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 26th. Attendance on both days is compulsory. To reserve a place on the course please email [email protected] before Wednesday, April 19th.

There was no winner of last week’s lotto. The winning numbers drawn were 7, 12, 18 and 24. The Match Three winner was Lucy McElroy c/o Sean McArdle who wins €100. The next lotto draw is on April 23rd.

The Sean O’Mahony’s/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshill U16 team entertain Clan na Gael at Na Piarsaigh’s pitch on Wednesday, April 19th at 7pm.
The Sean O’Mahony’s U12s are away to Glyde Rangers/Sean McDermotts/Westerns on Friday, April 21st at 7pm. On Monday, April 24th, the Sean O’Mahony’s/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshill U16 team plays host to Roche Emmets and on Wednesday, April 26th the Sean O’Mahonys/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshill U18 are away to the Dreadnots at 7pm.
