GAA | Adi’s hard work pays off as Joe’s benefit from Intel initiative
Paraic Duffy, the Director General of the GAA, was on hand recently to present a cheque of over €4,000 to St Joseph’s GFC as part of the 2016 Intel Matching Grant Initiative.
St Joseph’s chairman Michael Kinahan, Intel employee — and Joe’s volunteer Adi Carolan — and Intel Ireland VP Eamonn Sinnott were also present at a special event held at the Intel campus in Leixlip to mark the initiative.
The Intel Involved Matching Grant Program encourages Intel employees to engage in volunteerism in their communities. Intel support employees who give their time and talent to qualified non-profit organisations and clubs.
In 2016, Intel employees volunteered just over 54,000 hours that were eligible to be matched through this initiative resulting in a payout of €502,378 for 124 recipient organisations who are spread across 20 different counties in Ireland.
This is the ninth year that Intel has implemented the current grant scheme and in that time more than €3.65 million has been donated to charities, schools, sports clubs, social initiatives and community schemes across Ireland.
The total number of hours volunteered by employees during this time is the equivalent of having 25 people working full time in the community for the full nine years.
St Joseph’s GFC is the only club from Louth to benefit from this initiative. Everybody at the club would like to sincerely thank Intel for this very kind donation and to volunteer Adi Carolan, not only for putting in the hours, but for setting the club up in the initiative.
