Dromiskin school crowned Leinster champions in Navan

The St Joseph’s NS team celebrate after winning the SPAR FAI Primary School 5s Leinster Finals in Navan last Thursday

St Peter’s NS Dromiskin were victorious at the SPAR FAI Primary School 5s Leinster Finals in Navan last Thursday, booking their place in the All Ireland final at the Aviva Stadium on May 31st.

Twenty-four schools from 10 of the 12 counties participated in the Leinster finals. Competing in the medium schools section, St Peter’s NS prevailed at the expense of the valiant Gaelscoil Phortlaoise.

Both sides began their day with victories before St Peter’s NS took the initiative with victory over Dublin’s Central Model NS whilst the boys of Gaelscoil Phortlaoise could only draw with Castlebridge NS.

The schools faced off in the final game with the Laois side needing three points to book their place in the National Finals but St Peter’s did enough by securing a 1–1 draw to book their place in final at the Aviva Stadium.

The squad, made up of Sean Allen, Cian Sheridan, James Woods, Jake Kenny, Ryan Doran, Rory McLoughlin, Nathan Todd and Evan McEnteggart, along with manager Mr McComish, received a hero’s welcome when they returned to the school last Friday.
