Shamrocks FC to fly the Irish flag at SCI Football Festival
The Shamrocks FC U10 and U14 squad head to Wales this weekend to take part in the 2017 SCI Youth Football Festival.
The Fatima outfit are the only club from the Republic of Ireland to take part in the competition which takes place at Pontins in Prestatyn Sands Holiday Park from Friday to Sunday.
The U10 side will compete against Blacon Youth, Dukinfield Youth (England), Kinmel Bay, Llandudno Swifts, Llandudno Junction Dynamo’s (Wales) and Don Bosco’s A, Don Bosco’s B and Willowbank FC (Northern Ireland).
Managed by Tommy O’Hare and Thomas Macken, they play five games on Saturday, beginning with the first game against Llandudno Swifts at 1pm, and three on Sunday, the last of which is against Willowbank FC at 10.55am.
All matches are eight minutes a half and the winner and runner-up from the group will meet in Sunday’s final.
The U14 squad, managed by Liam Lindsay and Barry Griffin, are in a four-team group alongside St Asaph Lions (North Wales), Willowbank FC (Northern Ireland) and Forefield Rangers (England).
Shamrocks meet St Asaph Lions in their opener on Saturday at 1.45pm and finish up against Liverpool club Forefield Rovers on Sunday.
Games in the U14 grade are 16 minutes a half and the team that wins the group will be crowned champions with the second place team taking the runners-up position.
