FOOTBALL | 100th season of the Dundalk and District Junior League to kick-off on week starting April 15th

The 100th Dundalk and District Junior League season is set to kick off on the week beginning April 15th with nine clubs set to make up the format of the Premier Division.

The league has received applications from the following clubs to compete in the top tier: Redeemer, Termonfeckin, Fane, Rampart Celtic, Glenmuir, Quay Celtic, Muirhevnamor, Bellurgan, Rock Celtic and Ardee Celtic.

The season will run until early October, culminating in the McConville Cup final at Oriel Park.

Following its success last year, an U19 League is once again in the pipeline. A start date has been pencilled in after the Leaving Certificate with the season due to wrap up before the start of September.

The revamped DDL committee has also held discussions with the North East Football League regarding an Over-35 competition. The proposal would see the winners of the Dundalk and District Junior League face their NEFL counterparts in a regional Over-35 Cup final.
