FAI CUP FINAL | Dundalk fans planning a tribute to Foods in the 29th minute of final

29-year-old Lilywhites supporter died tragically two weeks ago

Dundalk FC supporters have launched an appeal to everybody attending Sunday’s FAI Cup final to take part in a minute’s applause for the late Robert ‘Foods’ McLoughlin in the 29th minute.

‘Foods’ died on Saturday, October 21st when he was struck by two cars outside his home on the Newry Road. Just hours previously, he was at Oriel Park watching the Lilywhites in their final home game of the season against Bohemians.

One of Robert’s friends, Stuart McDonnell, took to social media and to the radio waves in recent days to ask for people’s support in honour of the 29-year-old.

“Folks, we tragically lost a friend and one of the best Dundalk FC fans recently,” he wrote.

“In this Sunday’s FAI Cup final in the Aviva I would ask you to be upstanding in the 29th minute and take part in a minute’s applause for Foods.

“Can you share this post and give the man the applause he deserves Sunday, a true gent!”

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
