Following on from his WAKO World Kickboxing Championship gold medal win last year, Dundalk Martial Arts School of Fitness star Ryan Del Duca stepped into the weapons division to claim the Kickboxing Ireland national title yesterday.

Ryan, who trains at the club under instructor Wayne Rutherford, competed in the biggest section for his discipline.

However, his performance left nobody in any doubt that he deserved the national gold medal and a coveted place on the Irish kickboxing team for the upcoming WAKO European Championships which are expected to take place in Macedonia in September.

Ryan will be joined in Skopje by his young cousin and fellow DMAS-F student, Damien O’Hare, who also secured a national title for weapons in his age category.

The local fighters are looking forward to joining their fellow kickboxing peers from Dundalk in the rigorous training and competition schedule that lies ahead.
