Dundalk have named former St Patrick’s Athletic and Bohemians strength and conditioning coach, Graham Norton, as the replacement for Eoin Clarkin, who has left the club to pursue a new role with Arsenal Ladies.

Clarkin, who took over from Graham Byrne in May 2018, helped the Lilywhites to a league and FAI Cup double last season and won many admirers for his role at the club, notably first-team coach Vinny Perth.

“Eoin played a significant role in creating an improved culture of professionalism at the club over the past year, and was a vital part of our backroom staff,” said Perth.

“His work during pre-season saw us begin the league campaign in excellent physical shape and we will benefit from his work during the course of the season.

“Eoin has been presented with an opportunity that was too good to turn down, and we totally understand his reasons for wanting to move on.

“He helped us win the double in his first season at the club, an excellent return for a great person. We all wish Eoin luck and he will be a welcome visitor to Oriel Park whenever he is able to return for a game.”

Graham Norton has been named as Eoin Clarkin’s replacement

Norton spent time with Bohemians’ U19 squad before taking up a role with Keith Long’s first-team ahead of the 2019 campaign and Perth believes he will be an inspired appointment.

“Graham has an excellent CV and will be a fantastic addition to our staff. He has worked in the League Of Ireland recently and brings with him five years experience working with athletes.

“I am convinced we have found the right person to maintain the high standards that have been set at the club up until this point, and taking us on to new heights.”
