DARTS | Semi-finalists of the Andrew McAlester Open Shield are confirmed

Divisional Doubles to take place tomorrow night

The quarter-finals of the Andrew McAlester Open Shield, sponsored by Tuborg, took place in The Nest and The Bodhran last week.

After an early fright against the Bodhran Blues, the Stags Black showed why they’re one of the top teams in the Dundalk and District Darts League by going on to secure a 5–2 win. In the same venue, The Bodhran recorded a 6–1 win over The Malthouse.

In The Bodhran, The Nest ran out 7–0 winners against Ferguson’s. Lady luck was not on the side of the lads from Gyles Quay and but for missed doubles the game would have been a lot closer.

By winning the Premier Division title, the lads from The Nest have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with this season and will also be looking to do well in this competition.

Also in the same venue, The Stag’s Blue had a narrow 4–3 win over Jimmy’s Bar with Alan Dullaghan winning the crucial game for the Stags Blue and securing their place in the semi-finals.

It was a game that could have gone either way and the lads from Jimmy’s will be out for revenge when they play the Stag’s Blue in Courtney’s next month in the Premier Division Cup final.

Divisional Doubles

This week will see the Divisional Double competition take place and with over 120 players entered it promises to be a great night of darts in each division.

The Divisional Doubles is run on a different format to what the players normally compete in and is always guaranteed to throw up some shock results.

The venues are as follows — Premier Division: Commercial Club; Division One: Stags Head; Division Two: Eoin’s Bar.

Each venue will be played to a finish on the night. Best of luck to all those competing.
