CYCLING | Mountain Bike League begins this week

Registration is still open for the Cuchulainn Cycling Club 9th Wave Mountain Bike (MTB) League which kicks off this Tuesday night, April 18th, in Bellurgan Park.

This season’s action will take place in Bellurgan Park, Ravensdale Forest Park and on the Cooley Mountains, with 13 rounds scheduled over the 14 weeks.

Almost 100 participants took part in last year’s league and it continues to go from strength to strength with 9th Wave Cycling on board as this year’s main sponsor.

The winner after 13 rounds will win a carbon wheel set, worth €1250, a prize unequalled in any mountain bike race across the country.

There will be a carnival atmosphere at the first race with a mass start, music and a BBQ provided by the Buíon Setanta 5th Louth scouts.

A Junior League, suitable for U14s, will also be run on the same night. This league is very suitable for newcomers to the sport who get to race alongside some of the top mountain bikers in the country.

The entry fee is €45 for adults and €25 for juniors. Full details can be found here on the Cuchulainn Cycling Club website.
