CAMOGIE | Future looking bright for Louth Camogie as 90 girls take part in blitz

The first secondary schools camogie blitz of 2017 took place at the home of St Fechin’s on Tuesday, a great event which saw almost 90 girls take part, some for the first time, others with club or county experience.

Teams from St Louise and St Vincent’s in Dundalk, along with Ballymakenny, Our Lady’s, St Oliver’s (Drogheda) and Scoil Ui Mhuiri (Dunleer), all took part in a well organised event.

Given the recent bad weather, the blitz was played in glorious sunshine which made for excellent conditions.

The blitz was organised in a round robin format with the final between Ballymakenny and St Vincent’s was won by the Dundalk girls.

Well done to all who helped to make this blitz happen, especially Lorraine Young and Orla O’Connor from Louth Camogie who were referees on the day.

Thanks to the teachers for taking the time and coaching the girls and special thanks to Sabrina Larkin from Leinster Camogie for her assistance with this and other initiatives to help camogie development in Louth.

Another blitz is planned in November. The girls and teachers are out already out practising now!
