Karen and Nicola help Louth to team bronze

Dunleer AC members produced some fine performances at the Leinster Senior and Juvenile Championships at Adamstown in Wexford on Sunday.

Karen Costello finished fifth, leading the Louth Ladies to third county team in the senior ladies 5km race. She was supported by clubmate Nicola Welsh along with Mary Leech, Yasmin Canning and Erin McHugh from Drogheda & District AC and Sally Clarke from Boyne AC.

In the Juvenile Championships, Eseosa Victor and James Russell claimed individual medals with seventh and 12th place finishes in the U15 race while teammates Patrick Farrell and Edward McEntee claimed the bronze medal in the team section.

The boys U17s were led home by Kian Leavy and Danny O’Brien in 13th and 14th respectively. Along with Peter Meegan, Conor Matthews, Cathal Butler and Fran McDonnell, they claimed the third club prize.

Matthew McEntee helped the Louth team to medals in the U13 event and Conor Brennan finished second in the non-Championship U9 event.

Next stop is the National Championships with the even age groups in action in Abbottstown in two weeks time and the uneven age groups in Waterford in four weeks.

Congratulations to Karen Costello who has been selected to run for Ireland in the British and Irish Masters Cross Country event in Derry this weekend.

Karen was selected for this event after her fourth place finish in Abbottstown recently at the Autumn Open Cross Country.
