St Peter’s AC and St Joseph’s GFC have joined forces for the third annual Dromiskin 5k Race which will take place on Saturday, September 9th at 7pm.

The Dromiskin Fit Club established the event over the last two years and now the other two clubs in the community hope to keep this great event going for many more years to come.

All three clubs recently came together to officially launch this year’s event, along with main sponsor, Declan Loy of Viking Windows. The race is a great example of different community groups working together in sport.

The race entry is €15, which includes a long sleeve technical shirt. This shirt was originally due to be given to the first 200 registered, but due to the demand, it has been extended to the first 300.

The event is fully AAI approved, chipped and timed, but is open to all from the top runners to the casual walker and jogger.

Prizes for the top runners include: Senior Men & Women 1st, 2nd and 3rd; Junior, Over 40, Over 50 and Over 60 1st and 2nd; First Club Team of four men and women as well as spot prizes for random finishers.

A registration day will take place this Saturday, August 26th at Centra, Dromiskin from 2.30pm-5pm. Registration is also open online at either or, or can be done on the day itself.

Amongst those who have already signed up is Shane Healy from the MSB Club in Dublin who represented Ireland at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta in the 1500m

There will be refreshments served and presentations in the Joe’s Community Centre afterwards followed by a night’s entertainment in the Joe’s club bar that night.
