ATHLETICS | Glenmore AC youngsters enjoy their night on the beach
A number of Glenmore AC athletes enjoyed a great evening’s entertainment at the Blackrock Beach Races on Friday.
First up were Darragh Brady and Ciaran Flynn who came third and fourth respectively in the boys U16 race. Zoe White came home first in the girls U8, followed by Gillian Touhy (third) and Aoife McDonald.
The girls U10s were led home by Katie McDonald, followed by Emma McCarragher, Jessica White, Ruby Steeples and Sophie Cumiskey. The U10 boys were represented by Craig Tuohy, Elliot Nichols, Oisin McCoy and PJ Menary.
Ava Ashby ran a great race in the U12 girls, just missing out on a medal. She was closely followed by teammates Lucy White, Chloe McCarragher, Mia Ashby, Ellen Callan, Sarah Mallon and Megan Steeples. The U12 boys were represented by Cormac McCoy while Lisa Conlon and Emily Tuohy represented the U14 girls U14.
The evening finished with an adults relay where Lloyd Byrne, Tony Ashby, Lee Nichols and Gavin White impressed the club’s younger members with their stoic performance. Well done to all!

Seniors
Several of the club’s senior athletes ran the scenic Warrenpoint 10km on the Bay on Sunday, May 21st. Well done to Tadhg Leahy, Rose White, Joan Farnon, Paddy Gill and Vicky Leahy.
All of the club’s seniors are in preparation for the annual Glenmore AC 10 Mile Challenge which takes place on Saturday, June 10th.
The club is looking forward to welcoming athletes from north and south of the border to the land of the wooden medals!
This year there are 0ver-40, Over-50 and Over-60 categories and there is a special online offer of €15 per person if you register in groups of five or more. As ever, the scenery, home baking and live music awaits! For more information, see www.glenmoreac.com
