ATHLETICS | Glenmore AC girls book their place in All Ireland finals

Glenmore AC juveniles Lucy White, Chloe McCarragher, Katie McDonald, Emma McCarragher and Jessica White who competed at the Leinster Championships

A small but determined group of young Glenmore AC athletes travelled to Tullamore Harriers Stadium on Saturday to compete in the Leinster U9 and U11 Pairs and the U12 and U13 Track and Field Championship.

It proved to be a very successful and worthwhile trip for the club as Katie McDonald and Emma McCarragher finished third in the U10 pairs turbo javelin. Jessica White and Katie McDonald finished sixth in the U10 60m sprint while Emma and Jessica tried hard in the U10 500m.

Lucy White and Chloe McCarragher represented the club in the individual U12 events with Lucy taking silver in the U12 60m from a large field of 75 athletes.

Chloe finished in the top eight in the shot putt while Lucy took a second silver medal by representing Louth in the Leinster Inter County U13 relay. Katie McDonald also took gold as part of the Louth U11 relay team.

The girls now progress to the All Ireland finals which will take place on June 24th and July 9th. Good luck to them all!

Juvenile training continues on Tuesdays at 7pm at Bush Track. For more details see www.glenmoreac.com
