ATHLETICS | Gina returns to St Vincent’s on Sunday for school’s 5K Race
European U20 100m gold medallist Gina Apke-Moses will return to her old secondary school on Sunday, October 22nd to launch the 2017 St Vincent’s Run.
The race, which is a full chip and pin event, starts at the school gym before heading out onto the Inner Relief Road, the Racecourse Road, Newry Road, Fairgreen and the river bank before going back out onto the Inner Relief Road and making its way back to gym.
The run was launched at the St Vincent’s Secondary School Gym recently where Yvonne Keenan Ross from Operation Transformation gave an inspirational talk to the whole school about her journey.
Also present were St Vincent’s students, Patience Jumbo Gala and Kate O’Connor, who, along with Gina, have starred for Ireland at European athletics events this year.
Thanks to the generous sponsor The Hanger Company, there will be a draw for an iPhone 8 for any St Vincent’s student who returned a sponsorship card
Prizes for the run are as follows:
1st adult male: Playertek system
1st adult female: Playertek system
2nd adult male: Felda three-month membership
2nd adult female: Felda three-month membership
3rd adult male: Voucher for Luxe Spa Four Seasons Hotel, Carlingford
3rd adult female: Voucher for Luxe Spa Four Seasons Hotel, Carlingford
1st St Vincents girl: €200
1st U18 student: €200
2nd student: hair and make-up voucher
3rd student: Brendan Reid voucher
Entrance fee is €15 and a limited amount of t-shirts will be available to purchase for €10. Pre-registration will take place in the school from 9am-4pm on Friday, October 20th and also in the gym before the race. All proceeds will go towards a multipurpose outdoor sports area.
