ATHLETICS | Dunleer AC trio impress at Irish Milers Club 1500m

Dunleer AC athletes Jack Boylan and Conor Matthews recorded good runs in the pouring rain in Tullamore last Saturday.

Competing in the, Jack posted 4.02 mins in the A race and Conor 4.24 mins in the B race.

On Sunday, it was ladies day with Nicola Welsh posting a personal best of 4.48 mins — also in the 1500m — at the AAI Games in Santry.

Dunleer Four-Mile Road Race

Everybody at Dunleer AC is preparing themselves for this years Four-Mile Road Race with a series of Couch to Four-Mile training sessions at 7.30pm on Thursdays at the clubrooms in Dunleer. This plan will get runners into great shape for this year’s race which takes place on July 16th.

Blackrock Beach Races

Dunleer AC enjoyed a great night of athletics and fun at the Blackrock Beach Races last Friday night with a number of the club’s athletes returning with medals.

Schools News

Dunleer AC travel to the All Ireland Schools Track and Field Championships in Tullamore this weekend to support the athletes who have qualified for this prestigious event.

Victor Eseosa competes in the minor boys 800m, Aeyla Orr in the junior girls long jump, Emma Cheshire in the senior girls long jump, Liam Connaughton in the Intermediate javelin and Diarmuid McKeown in the senior boys 1500m.

All will represent their schools with pride as they look forward to the summer holidays and a summer of track and field training and competition.

Dunleer AC Summer Camp

Dunleer AC will once again host a summer camp for Athletics Ireland in the coming months.

Organiser Jacqueline Matthews has booked the Lourdes Stadium in Drogheda for a summer camp in order to make full use of this excellent facility, to maximise the fun element and to teach the technical aspects of even more athletic disciplines.

Dates are as follows — July 10th-14th from 10am-2pm daily. Age groups: 6–12 year olds. Cost: €50. Free t-shirt, spike bag, water bottle, medal and certificate. Please register through the Athletics Ireland website.
