# National silver for Emma Cheshire at schools event

Dunleer AC’s Vanessa Brennan, Lucy Sheridan, Danielle Brennan, Erinn Leavy and Aibhe Reilly

Dunleer AC had a great day at the Leinster Even Ages and Novice Cross Country in Navan on Saturday.

The athletes were delighted with the super course set up by Meath Athletics and there were brilliant races from U10 right through to Novice.

All of the club’s juveniles qualified either individually or on club and county teams to the national event at the end of November.

Special congratulations to Erinn Leavy on her impressive win in the U12 Championship and her teammate Lucy Sheridan who finished seventh, with Vanessa Brennan 22nd, Danielle Brennan 41st and Aibhe Reilly 69th, securing Dunleer a third place team bronze medal.

With the help of Blackrock’s Rebecca Baldwin, St Peter’s Acs’ Dearbhla Allen and Glenmore AC’s Lucy White, the Louth team also qualified for the nationals.

The Louth U12 boys also finished in second place and go through to the nationals. The team was helped by the contribution of Dunleer AC’s Ciaran Russell.

Meanwhile, James Russell, Patrick Farrell and Matthew McEntee were integral members of the Louth U14 team who qualified for the nationals also.

Finally, in the non-Championship U10 event, Sally Sheridan, Dáire Mathews and Conor Brennan all ran really well with Dáire finishing in third place after a hard-fought race.

In the Novice races, Paul Butler and Nicola Welsh had great outings with Nicola’s ninth place finish the best result of the day.

Leinster Schools champion Emma Cheshire enjoyed a great day at the All Ireland Schools Indoor Combined events on Saturday.

The Dunleer AC star finished second in the national competition and excelling at hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot putt and 800m.
