ATHLETICS | Dundealgan AC take plenty of medals home from Drogheda
Dundealgan AC had a successful outing at the Louth Pre-Championship at the Lourdes Stadium on Saturday.
Representing the club were Jonathan Rice, Eddie Clarke, Robert Mee-Lucey, Killian Conway, Fiachra McCormack, Ryan Conway, James Murphy, Kimberley Okobi, Donal McCormack and Jamie Williams across a variety of age groups.
Jamie Williams was the club’s first medal winner, taking bronze in the U10 80m. He also ran well in his first attempt at 500m. James Murphy ran strongly to finish second in his U12 80m heat, and put in a good effort in the final. He then followed this up with an impressive first outing in the 600m.
Donal McCormack acquitted himself well in both the U11 80m and 600m while his brother Fiachra, who was competing in the U14 100m and 800m, took home bronze in the 800m race.
Robert Mee-Lucey performed well in the U16 100m and long jump while Killian Conway competed in his first U16 shot put competition, gaining valuable experience.
Jonathan Rice and Eddie Clarke competed in the U19 events, where Jonathan won bronze in the 100m and long jump, and Eddie won silver in the 800m.
Well done to all the club’s competitors for their fine efforts on the day.
